"Technology in Dementia Care"
August 20-21, 2025
Hilton Jackson Hotel and Conference Center | Jackson, MS
Sponsor/Exhibitor Opportunities
The goal of the 25th Annual Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias is to inform, educate, and train individuals in Mississippi and surrounding states who are caring for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). This year’s conference, themed "Technology in Dementia Care," will explore the latest innovations in assistive technologies and digital health tools that enhance diagnosis, treatment, and daily support. Attendees will gain valuable insights from leading researchers and clinicians, while engaging in collaborative discussions on ethical implementation and use of technology, and the future of dementia research, care and support services.
The conference will kick off Wednesday morning with a keynote presentation on "Technology and Dementia Care" by Dr. Saurabh Chandra, Chief Technology Officer at University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), and Dr. Kim Tarver, Division Chief for Geriatrics and Director of Clinical Services for The MIND Center at UMMC. Sessions will be delivered in both general and breakout format by expert speakers from organizations within Mississippi and beyond who provide care and support services to older adults and persons with ADRD. Special guest, Dr. Lindsey Miller Lewis, Owner and Facilitator with iNGAGE Talent Development, will be our closing speaker on Thursday afternoon with a motivational presentation, "Be Quiet, Be Heard: The Paradox of Persuasion," to reenergize attendees in their roles as caregivers and care partners of persons with ADRD. Conference programming will provide approximately 13 continuing education hours.
Conference Objectives:
- Discuss applications of technology used in dementia assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and patient and caregiver education and support.
- Review methods to identify and access active, evidence-based Alzheimer’s and dementia research studies and evaluate the validity and relevance of research publications on new treatments and methods of prevention.
- Evaluate the roles of nutrition, sleep hygiene, and sensory health (vision and hearing) in supporting cognitive function and brain health.
- Identify methods to connect health care professionals and family caregivers with available resources and support services in Mississippi to improve care delivery.
